PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Dr. Lareau performs services in his independent practice of two
distinct types: Forensic Psychological Evaluations, and Litigation
Consulting. Although both roles employ the training and skills Dr.
Lareau has developed over years as an expert in civil and criminal
forensic psychology, the roles differ with respect to the goals and
product of the work.
Forensic Psychological Evaluations (click for more information)
When Dr. Lareau performs Forensic Psychological Evaluations, he is retained by counsel or the court to objectively evaluate an individual's relevant psychological functioning against specific legal criteria that are important to allegations or defenses in the legal case. In this role, Dr. Lareau functions as a neutral, unbiased expert.
If the retaining attorney would then like Dr. Lareau to produce a report, he will generate a comprehensive and detailed report that communicates the results of the evaluation. The report will provide all relevant information, and will be fully defensible.
If needed to provide expert witness testimony, Dr. Lareau will be able to provide cogent, clear, and powerful testimony based upon the results of the report and evaluation.
Litigation Consulting (click for more information)
As a litigation consultant, Dr. Lareau is retained to be a member of the attorney's litigation "team." In this role, Dr. Lareau utilizes his skills in both forensic psychology and the law to assist the attorney to reach a successful outcome in the litigation. As a consultant, Dr. Lareau works as a behind-the-scenes expert to assist the attorney to confidently navigate the mental health-related issues in the case.
