One of the core areas of Dr. Lareau's
independent practice is performing forensic
psychological evaluations in various civil and
criminal litigation matters. When performing
psychological evaluations, Dr. Lareau provides
a neutral, objective assessment of the relevant
psycholegal issues. Information utilized in the
assessment typically involves review of
documents and other collateral data, interviews
with the subject of the evaluation,
administration of psychological tests,
behavioral observations, and interviews with
collaterals.
Dr. Lareau then prepares a comprehensive written report that addresses
the most relevant facts and offers an opinion on the forensic issue(s)
assessed. In most circumstances, assessments are performed at the
request of a retaining attorney, a court, an insurance carrier, or an
employer. In civil matters, evaluations are performed for plaintiff or
defense, and in criminal cases for prosecution or defense.
If requested to provide expert witness testimony, either at a trial or a
deposition, Dr. Lareau will be able to provide objective, clear, and
powerful testimony that will accurately represent the information from
the psychological evaluation and written report. As a testifying expert,
Dr. Lareau can call upon his training and education as an attorney
himself to anticipate the flow of questioning and to keep his testimony
from being compromised.
